Program: Transform Your Health with Herbs
Presenter: Alyssa Mancini, Owner of Herbs, Love & Yoga in Sandy Hook.
Alyssa will offer ideas on which herbs to grow and the best methods for success.
She will also discuss the connection between medicinal herbs, health, and the
benefits of yoga. For those who would like to try chair yoga, she will lead a brief demonstration of the practice of chair yoga.

Program: Greens Sale Workshops, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Newtown Congregational Church, Newtown, CT
Club members of all skill levels create decorations for the Holiday Greens & Gifts Sale held at the Congregational Church on West Street.
Thursday we focus on kissing balls, boxwood trees, and centerpieces & specialty items. Members are needed to cut fresh greens into smaller pieces and to create and share their talents, ideas and suggestions. This fun and productive workshop creates one-of-a-kind sale items as well as fellowship.
Friday we decorate pre-made wreaths with fresh greens collected by members, and add bows, pinecones, and handmade ornaments. Members also write price tags, package small items, and add string lights and bows to finish creations.

Program: Victory Garden II
Presented by Louise Zierzow and Jeannette DelVento
These two experienced Garden Club of Newtown gardeners have taken the lead in designing and creating the Victory Garden at Fairfield Hills in Newtown. They will continue the conversation they started in 2025 about which vegetables and herbs do the best in the garden soil they have tailored for the sunny site.
The public is invited to share their own observations about gardening in their yard.

Presenter: Peggy Townsend
Peggy, an award-winning floral designer will share her knowledge of creating a floral centerpiece for the April holiday season. Peggy will teach principles of floral design. Members will bring their own containers and are invited to choose from flowers provided by the club and selected by Peggy.
A modest fee is required.

“April in Bloom” Flower Show
This flower show will be an opportunity for all our members to shine and showcase what we do. We will be presenting an NGC Standard Flow Show celebrating our 71 years as a garden club serving the Newtown community.
Our club was founded in 1955 with a mission to promote interest in horticulture, floral design, conservation, and civic beauty. The show will exhibit creative floral design, horticulture exhibits, and educational displays for ‘Beeing Resilient” in gardening.
This three-day event promises to be fun, educational, and a great opportunity to introduce the public to our membership, our service and the comradery we share.

Program: Bats are the Best Presenter
Presenter: White Memorial speaker
The speaker will present a video showing the many functions of bats in the important work of plant pollination. Positive facts about bats will be emphasized in order to counter negative notions about the bat population. Bats are considered super pollinators.

Ms. Lutz, author of a garden book titled “Gardening with Heart” will speak about her beliefs that gardening has a role in calming and enriching the gardener’s life, while demystifying the intimidation factor for the beginner. She will share a video with highlights of her gardening journey.
