Dear Fellow Members,
As we begin the new Club year of 2026-2027 and our 71st year as The Garden Club of Newtown I am thrilled to be collaborating with such a talented group of dedicated members.
2025-2026 was an incredibly busy year with our monthly meetings, the annual Greens & Gifts Sale, and the planning and execution of both the Plant Sale and the May In Bloom Flower Show in May. What tireless energy from all of you to support these activities!
As a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut (FGCCT) our Club will continue to support the 2025-2027 FGCCT President’s Project theme of BEE RESILIENT. This critical project continues to provide guidance and financial support for the creation and nurturing of native plant gardens across Connecticut communities. We are proud to continue to support this initiative.
Within our own community the Club continues to maintain a variety of important civic locations including the back garden at the Matthew Curtis House, the Library Knot Garden,Barb’s Trail, and the Blue Star Memorial. We look forward to the continued support of future plantings in Ram’s Pasture. Our four rows at the Victory Garden continue to thrive and provide fresh, organic vegetables to our local food pantries and senior communities.
As we start this new year I am indeed looking forward to our monthly meetings with educational programs coordinated by our Program chairpersons. Most of all I look forward to the fellowship among all our members who possess so many diverse interests, creative talents, and gardening skills.
Our 71st year is indeed a point of pride. Clearly throughout our Club’s history we have been relevant, resilient, evolving, and a contributor to the story of our community. I look forward to continuing this marvelous journey with all of you.
