President’s Message

Presidents Message for 2025-2026 Directory

Greetings Fellow Members,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 Club year with the Garden Club of Newtown. We are thrilled to serve as your Co-Presidents. We closed the 2024-2025 year with many accomplishments including a healthy bank balance to start our year and a growing Membership.

Our programs committee has compiled a diverse series of presentations for our meetings that will educate, inspire, provide you with opportunities to learn gardening methods, and generate original imaginative artistic designs. We will do all this in support of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut theme of “Bee Resilient- Garden for Nature”.

Our Club supports several shows throughout the year including the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum and the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Annual Flower Show, both in Hartford. You are encouraged to visit these shows and perhaps join a team to enter a design, or a design of your own creation.

The Matthew Curtis House Historical Garden, The Cyrenius H. Booth Library Knot Garden, The Blue Star Memorial Garden and Barb’s Trail are the public gardens maintained by our Club. As these gardens are continually redesigned, they are being given a new pollinator friendly life. We will continue to beautify Ram’s Pasture with planting more beautiful daffodils.

Our Club’s new raised beds in our 4 rows at the Municipal Victory Garden have been a resounding success. Our bounty continues to flourish, as we provide healthy organic produce to local food pantries. You can be proud of this success.

The major Club fundraiser each year is the Annual Greens and Gifts Sale. Through all of the workshops, you will find a wonderful opportunity to learn creative designs all while enjoying the friendships our Club offers. In the spring of 2026, we are planning another plant sale. We depend on both of these fundraisers to support our Club’s projects throughout the year, your support and participation is crucial for our Clubs’ success.

As we enter a year of Bee Resilient- Garden for Nature, we look forward to working with each of you, to make this a fun and successful Club year.

Paula Toi and Sue Greco, Co-Presidents
